Tampa Bay trout fishing often is overlooked, but it offers some of the most amazing action our waters have to offer. Trout are a hard-fighting fish that readily attack lures and live baits. When the "gator" trout are running in winter and early spring and in the fall, jigging or topwater plugging for these fish offers excellent fishing and a chance to bag a real Florida yellow-mouth, gator trout. We fish Tampa Bay trout but also fish the shallow grass flats from Clearwater north to Tarpon Springs for these fish, where they school in the crystal clear waters. Trout also are a great eating fish, and it is not uncommon for out customers to put a couple in the cooler for a fish fry later.
